April 13, 2009

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on April 13, 2009 at 7:35pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Jim Marion, Clerk Kelly Marion, Treasurer Judy Gordon, Trustees Robert Prehn and Robert Marion. Twenty four other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. Robert Prehn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. Robert Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. Judy Gordon, that the agenda approved with the following changes: (8b) Brett Lenart; (8c) Jim Marion fax machine;
    (8d) Assessor fee to Washtenaw County.

  5. Mr. Robert Marion moved, supported by Mrs. Judy Gordon, that the consent agenda be approved as presented.
    1. Approved minutes from March 9 Regular Meeting.
    2. Approved minutes from March 25 Special Meeting.
    3. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    4. Approved Accounts Payable in the amount of $2,264.62.
    5. Cemetery Clean Up April 18th- Oak Hill 9:00am.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. No comments.

  7. Steve Purri of Washtenaw County Road Commission and other staff members were in attendance to present the Commissions 2009 Annual Report. Citizens had many comments and concerns regarding the roadways. At this point there are no funds available through the stimulus plan for Feldkamp Bridge. Further discussion to follow on whether or not to continue with the bridges design. WCRC and Saline Township Road Committee will work together to prioritize the roads within the township.


  8. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:
    1. ITC - Dan Cabage updated the township on the driveway and culvert installation. Should see results by May.
    2. Brett Lenart - Mr. Robert Marion moved, supported by Mr. Robert Prehn that the Resolution of Support for the Saline Sustainability Circle Resolution be turned down.
    3. Jim Marion - New fax machine to be purchased.
    4. Assessor Fee's to Saline Township; $15,000 a year. Mr. Robert Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. Judy Gordon to accept the fee to Washtenaw County Assessor Office.

  9. State Police were unable to attend.

  10. Trustee Report - Appropriate steps are being looked into with regards to homes in the township that are at least 50% damaged (example;fire). The board tabled the Joint Resolution between the City of Saline and Saline Township until the township attorney, Fred Lucas could review.

  11. Zoning/Building Administrator - No report.

  12. Fireboard Report -Clerk duties and banked hours were disused. Budget was approved.

  13. Township Hall Manager Report - Problem with furnace. Current furnace is about 18 years old and not very efficient; township may consider a new furnace prior to fall.

  14. Board Member Comments - Mrs. Judy Gordon has settled with the county.
