  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on December 8, 2008 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Marion, Treasurer Gordon, Trustee
    R. Prehn.11 other citizens were present.

  3. Mr. R. Prehn led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. R. Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. Gordon that the agenda approved with the following changes: (5i) William Weidmayer be listed as an alternate for the Board of Review, (9) Trustee report was with regards to the bill know as HR-4780-88and(5i) the expiration dates for the board of review was changed to 2010.

  5. Mr. R. Prehn moved, supported by Mrs. Gordon, that the consent agenda be approved as revised.
    1. Approve minutes from November 10 regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve 3rd Quarter Payroll $15,560.97.
    4. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $14,401.39.
    5. Appointed Neil Bohnett to the Planning Commission with a term expiring December 31, 2011.
    6. Appointed Robert Prehn to the Planning Commission with a term expiring December 31, 2011.
    7. Appointed Eugene Heusel to the Zoning Board of Appeals with a term expiring December 31, 2011.
    8. Appointed James Laramie to the Zoning Board of Appeals with a term expiring December 31, 2011.
    9. Appointed William Weidmayer to the Board of Review as an alternate with a term expiring December 31, 2010.
    10. Appointed Tom Hammond to the Board of Review with a term expiring December 31, 2010.
    11. Appointed Taylor Jacobsen to the Board of Review with a term expiring December 31, 2010.
    12. Appointed William Lutz to the Board of Review with a term expiring December 31, 2010.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. No citizen addressed the board on December 8, 2008.

  7. Mrs. Gordon notified the board and citizens that Carl Kennedy was denied a garage by the Zonings Board.

  8. Mrs. Gordon investigating the process with regards to unpaid taxes on home's located in River Ridge. Homeowners have moved on leaving unpaid taxes on the property.

  9. Mrs. Gumtow announced clean up day is May 16, 2009. Clean up day will be held once a year.

  10. Mrs. Gumtow checking into the cost of deposing tires from clean up day. A cost to depose of tires and a limit of tires to be decided. Notice of changes to be posted on the door of the township and advertized when needed.

  11. Michigan State Police - 22 calls in the last month none of which were of any large concern. One death in the township. Less use of Feldkamp Bridge was mentioned to the State Police and a sign on Michigan Ave indicating the bridges weight limit was suggest. Feldkamp Bridge was reopened on December 8, 2008.

  12. Checking into a speed limit sign at the corner of Macon and Jordan. Citizen complaint, did not attend meeting.

  13. Welcomed Paul Gumtow again as the Township Hall Manager.

  14. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:
    1. Supervisor briefly mentioned names that could be potential volunteers for the Steering Committee (Road Millage Money). These names included: Earl Klager, Tim Dwyer, Mike White, Neil Bohnett, Ron Kohler, Carl Girbach and Robert Prehn.
    2. Sub Committee (425) consists of Robert Prehn/James Marion and Neil Bohnett/Chuck Rankin.
    3. Supervisor checking into having Kathy Angerer in to better explain the
      HR-4780-88 bill and how it impacts the township. Also checking with Fred Lucas the township attorney.
    4. Supervisor touching base with Fred Lucas with regard to Act 7.
    5. Planning Commission Meetings changed to the first Tuesday starting in February taking place every other month.

  15. Trustee report - Concern about the HR-4780-88 bill. Wanting to make a motion to pass a Resolution. Further investigating on such bill being done first. See above.
  16. No Zoning/Building Administrator report.
  17. Fireboard report - Saline Fire Department is supporting Toys for Tots pass the word. Budget was set.
  18. Township hall manager reported furnace is working fine.
  19. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
