September 8, 2008

  1. The Regular Meeting of the Saline Township Board was called to order by Supervisor Marion on September 8, 2008 at 7:30pm at the Saline Town Hall, 5731 Braun Road, Saline, MI 48176.

  2. Members present: Supervisor Marion, Clerk Baldus, Treasurer Gordon, Trustees Bohnett and R. Marion. Eight other citizens were present.

  3. Mrs. Baldus led the Pledge of Allegiance.

  4. Mr. Bohnett moved, supported by Mr. R. Marion that the agenda approved with the following changes: correct consent agenda item 5d to include an additional $1392.75 for bills to Verizon, Elite Yard, Heritage Newspaper, Allied Waste and US Postmaster; therefore a total of Accounts Payable should be $8,079.60.
    Ayes: 5. Nays: 0. Motion carried.

  5. Mr. R. Marion moved, supported by Mrs. Gordon, that the consent agenda be approved as revised.
    1. Approve minutes from August 11 regular meeting.
    2. Receive Clerk's budget, Financial Report.
    3. Approve 2nd Quarter Payroll $15,470.97.
    4. Approve Accounts Payable in the amount of $8,079.60.

  6. Citizens were offered a chance to address the Board regarding items not already on the agenda. Zoning Board of Appeals Chairperson, Eugene Heusel, mentioned that the ZBA did have a public meeting to approve the small shed of Cindy Collins.

  7. Board conducted a brief review of the Corn Maze located on Jordan Road. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk were present to answer any questions. Corn maze is 15 acres; there is an outside perimeter for safety of participants. Township received copy of homeowners' insurance policy for adequate coverage. Hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday 6 to 9 p.m.; Friday 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday 10 to 10 p.m.; and Sunday Noon to 9 p.m.

  8. Supervisor Marion commented on the following:
    1. Board briefly mentioned names that could be potential volunteers for the Road Committee. Supervisor will contact these individuals. These included Dwyer, E. Finkbeiner, E. Klager, N. Bohnett, Prehn, Lindemann, Guenther, Heusel and R. Kohler.
    2. Jerry Diuble quoted $2,120 to tuck point the front and side of mausoleum and replace field stone in back. Waiting to hear from additional companies regarding repairs at Union Cemetery.
    3. Roy Townsend should hear from the State regarding Feldkamp Bridge and the critical funding money by October 1, 2008.

  9. No Trustee report.

  10. No Zoning/Building Administrator report.

  11. No Fireboard report.

  12. Township hall manager reported minor repairs and some tree cutting was performed in the past month.
