Ordinance No. 24 Amendment to Zoning Ordinance

Burn Permit
If you plan to have an open fire, please call the Saline Area Fire Department at (734) 429-4440 to obtain a permit. Please Note that if you do not obtain a burn permit and the fire gets out of control, the homeowner will be charged for Fire Department Services!


Zoning Permit
Zoning Permits are required for all buildings and decks, regardless of use and number of acres owned. They may be obtained from the Zoning Administrator. For further information contact Robert J. Marion: (734) 429-4869.


Lot Split
Lot Split Ordinance:
In order to monitor the creation of new parcels a property split application must be approved by the Township. Contact the Zoning Administrator, Robert J. Marion: (734) 429-4869.


Property Tax

Saline Township property tax information is now available online at http://SalineTwp.is.bsasoftware.com.


SUMMER TAXES

Summer taxes are mailed on June 30th and are due and payable from July 1st thru September 14th without penalty.

Late fees for summer taxes are:

  • If paid between September 15 - 30th, add 1%
  • If paid by October 31st, add 2%
  • If paid by November 30th, add 3%
  • If paid by December 31st, add 4%
  • If paid by January 31st, add 5%
  • If paid by February 14th, add 6%
  • If paid by February 28th, add 7%

*Summer deferment forms are also due in the Treasurer's Office by September 14th.


WINTER TAXES

Winter taxes will be mailed on November 30th and are due and payable from December 1st thru February 14th each year.

Late fees for winter taxes are:

Taxes paid late from February 15th until February 28th are assessed a one percent late fee.

On March 1st, real estate taxes are turned over to the Washtenaw County Treasurer and payable at the County office. Call the Washtenaw County Treasurer at (734) 222-6600 for any questions on delinquent payments.

Write your property identification number on your check for reference.

Include the payment voucher portion of the tax bill with your payment and mail to:

Current full tax payments can also be made at Old National Bank (Saline Branch ONLY) at 200 North Maple Road during normal business hours. Old National Bank will not accept partial payments or delinquent payments. Payments must be accompanied by the voucher portion of your tax bill.

Property tax receipts are available upon request.

Checks are accepted only as conditional payment. If not honored by the bank, the tax bill will be restored as unpaid in the tax roll without further notice and will be subject to all interest and penalty charges. Any NSF checks will be charged a $35.00 fee.

All payments must be received in the Treasurer's Office no later than 5:00 pm on the due date.


POSTMARKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Office Hours: Tuesday from 9:00 am to noon at the town hall 5731 Braun Rd, Saline, MI 48176. A locked drop box (black mailbox) is available at 7186 Klager Rd Saline, MI 48176 in front of the front porch.

The Treasurer’s office will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on September 14th and February 14th. If those days fall on a weekend, please look at your tax bill for office dates and times.

The Saline Township Treasurer’s office is not open on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.

Errors and Omissions:
Please examine this statement closely and notify our office of any errors.

  • Failure to receive your Saline Township Tax Bill does not waive penalties and/or interest.
  • Compare the legal description with your own record of title before paying this tax. If you pay on the wrong description, the law holds you wholly responsible.

Change of Name and/or Address:
Promptly report any name or address changes to our office. If you have sold this property, please forward this tax statement to the new owner, or return it to Saline Township with the correct information.
